Before you progress to look around our site, we must bring your attention to the ongoing Schoolhouse saga. It is important that all residents of Clonsilla and Porterstown give their feedback to Fingal County Council before 11th August 2025 on Fingal’s Consultation portal: https://consult.fingal.ie/en/consultation/old-school-house-masterplan-clonsilla

CPHS believe that it would be great if FCC used this opportunity to develop a cultural quarter in Clonsilla… imagine what Keane’s Cottage (recent planning application denied by ABP) and The Schoolhouse area could be… along the greenway… a nice coffee shop… a community centre… a heritage centre… an art studio… A place for people to meet… a place for families and friends to get together… a place for the weary walkers along the national famine route to take a breather… There are so many opportunities here to make a beating Heart in Clonsilla.

Please click on the image below, and share with your family and friends, help us raise a loud unignorable community voice to FCC.

Welcome to the Clonsilla and Porterstown Historical Society (CPHS), where the vibrant past of these Dublin 15 neighbourhoods comes alive. Established in 2023 with a passion for preserving and sharing local history, our society delves into the rich tapestry of stories, events, and landmarks that have shaped the wider Clonsilla area, Dublin 15.

From the ancient roots of Clonsilla, believed to have been settled as far back as the Neolithic period, to the medieval era when Porterstown was known for its bustling market and agricultural prowess, our society endeavours to uncover and celebrate every facet of our community’s heritage.

During the tumultuous times surrounding Irish independence, Clonsilla and surrounding townlands were witness to significant events and movements. From the local involvement in the Easter Rising of 1916 to the aftermath of the War of Independence, our neighbourhoods played their part in the struggle for self-determination.

Through engaging lectures, exhibitions, and archival research, we invite you to join us in exploring the captivating history of Clonsilla, Porterstown and maybe a bit further afield from their humble beginnings to the thriving neighbourhoods they are today.

We held our first Heritage Festival held during September 2023 which consisted of walks, talks, music and boat rides, all celebrating the best heritage Clonsilla has to offer. For details of the festive, please go over to our Festival page. We think it was a great success!

Planning is well underway for our next festival, details will be announced when we have all the preparation done.
