Keane’s Cottage
Fingal County Council have granted planning permission for the demolition of Keane’s cottage.

CPHS has opposed this, and have made submission to An Bord Pleanála to incorporate this ancient part of Clonsilla into the future development

CPHS have sent the below letter to FCC’s Conservation Officer outlining concerns.
Clonsilla Lodge
WEHS are the initial of Captain William Edward Hollwey Steeds, and the lodge was built during his tenure as owner of Clonsilla House (demolished and replaced with Portersgate) this is one of the last remaining link to the Hollwey Steeds family, famous horse breeders and linked to the ‘Clonsilla Poisoning’ of 1887. It was built in 1897.

FCC has granted permission for the demolition of this old building, and since then the building has succumbed to a number of arson attacks, and was eventually demolished in January 2025, as part of the planning condition

CPHS, with public and political support, asked the developer to retain the chimney, however due to it’s age and damage this was not possible. The developer did however manage to get the name plate down in one piece, and have agreed to use it as a feature in the development that is currently underway on the site.
Thanks to the team at Torca for their support and understanding, and we look forward to the unveiling of this nameplate in it’s renovated home.
