2024 Heritage Festival
This year’s festival was held on Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th September, we feel like it was a success, we hope you do too!
- In addition to the very popular canal barge rides, this year we had Stand Up Paddle boarding along the canal.
- As well as music in Shackleton’s Gardens, we also had an outdoor painting competition (Plein Air) and activities for the kids!
- We had added a Pop Up Museum of Clonsilla to the mix, at Beechpark Farm Shop, plus a behind the scenes tour of the farm itself.
- We repeated the hugely popular tour of Luttrellstown Lake and Glen, as well as adding a guided tour of St Mochta’s Church.
- Our final event was a talk and some songs at St Mary’s Church.
We have uploaded a selection of photos that our volunteers have taken at the following location, we encourage you to take a look, and to add photos of our events from your perspectives. https://photos.app.goo.gl/cE8G3L389FTZHwAF8
Thanks for joining us, and we hope to see you again next year!
2023 Heritage Festival
Two interesting afternoons of heritage were included as part of the Clonsilla Heritage Festival.
We heard about the construction (and restoration) of the Deep Sinking, the history of Shackleton’s Mill, the infamous Clonsilla Horse Poisoning Incident and the Flora & Fauna to be found along the canal.
A lot of history packed into two afternoons!
We also saw the inside St Mary’s Church and Clonsilla Hall, historic in their own right.
