Stories & Memories

The best way to know an area is Local knowledge, we intend to document what we can, from whom we can. There are other ways of learning from our past, which we hope to bring to life by researching Library, military and other archives.

Schools, Scouts, sports clubs and other societies have been around for quite a long time, some of them even pre-date all of us living in the area, but these organisations have ‘memories’, we intend to engage with these organisations to document the memories of our area, so that future generations can know what life was like in rural Clonsilla, through the satellite town that it became to the urban sprawl that is coming.

Our Memories Series has come to life with the first story sent in by Caroline Laidlaw of her fascinating first-hand account of the Somerton Skeleton find of 1959.
